Staff for 2010 Dance For The Pets Benefit
It is impossible to be successful without have a team of great people!
Richard & Leslye Lane, Co-Chairs
Both are lovers of animals and they have 6 cats and one dog who reside with them. Leslye is an Achievement Coach and Part-time Instructor for Central New Mexico Community College. She has volunteered for many animal adoption events, primarily in Utah and is thrilled to be helping with this event! Richard repairs phone lines for Qwest and is a Square Dance caller for the Duke City Singles and Richard's Rowdies. He has been calling for 28 years and is happy to be part of this event. Both have hopes to make this a statewide event.
Gerry Dunbar, Volunteer Coordinator
Gerry has been active in Albuquerque Square Dancing for many years. She has chaired or co-chaired the Duke City Singles Spring Fling for many years. She has served on both local and state committees and boards. She brings to the event amazing organizational skills and an enthusiasm for the event and its mission.
Lois & Dick McClave, Food Coordinators
Realizing a need for sodas and recognizing another way to make money, Lois volunteered to help with the 2010 event. Her connections to the Air Force Base and an unmitigated love for dogs (they have 3 who travel everywhere with them), she will undoubtedly contribute to a well-hydrated and well-fed group.Gale Askren & JoeAnn Mack, Raffle Coordinators
Both come to this event with experience with soliciting donations and building the most amazing baskets. They were in charge of the 2009 Spring Fling and were able to raise over $500.00. Both are dog lovers as well. All of the Committee will be looking for donations but we are sure it will be the magic these two people add that will make each basket wonderful.
Advertising - truly a team effort
Cecilia Pounds, with the Duke City Singles will be the coordinator and will be the researcher for places to advertise. Allergic to cats but a lover of animals, she has helped with the Spring Fling and with many club activities and will be a wonderful sleuth for advertising venues.
Connie and Helene with Watermelon Mountain Ranch, will use their media contacts to help get the word out to non-dancers - Their participation in the 2009 event was amazing. Kudos to her volunteers who showed compassion and an openness to the participants of the dance event.
Other important members of the committee:
Kris Jensen, is the President of Albuquerque Square Dance Club, a square dance caller and contra cuer was instrumental in helping us secure the hall and a live band for the contra workshop. This year Hands Five will be again playing for the workshop and the dance. She is a dog person.
Scott Amspoker, a square dance caller and country western and line dance teacher taught the line dance session and will be calling this year. He is a cat person.
Susan Kellog, a country western teacher and president of the Albuquereque Swing & Country Dance Club, did a Swing workshop and was instrumental in securing DJ Frank for the evening country western dance. She has a large membership and we were grateful they came out and supported the event last year.
Melinda, a dancer with the Wilde Bunch is also active with several organizations who are animal oriented. We are hoping to add an element of education to the next event.
